Raised the Roof to Radio & a Feature Film
By: V Capaldi I had the honor and privilege of being interviewed for a live broadcast of The Coffee Corner Radio earlier this week. So grateful to Thelma, Paul and the entire crew for a day I will forever remember. There commitment to the community started the moment they so graciously picked me up and provide transportation to the show. During our drive to the station an informal interview happened and they mentioned who the other guest was and I was surprised and wondered how this was going to turn out.
Words cannot express how much I am so very grateful for the show and to have been on air while they interviewed Betty Porto of the famous Porto's Bakery an LA institution. At first I was like how is this going to work Betty Porto and PaleoBOSS Lady on the same show? Keeping an open mind I was excited to meet a member of this family run bakery that is hard not to know about when you live in LA LA Land. Literally seldom if ever did Antioch have an end of quarter potluck where someone did not include a box from Porto's. Only crumbs always remained each box witnessed was devoured by the class. The story remained the same all my years as a student and teacher although I never have had a bite I knew this bakery was special to many.
Listening to Betty's familial story brought tears, laughter and a sense of joy to my person. Porto's Bakery is built around a story of hardship, extreme struggle, hard work, determination, self belief, family and commitment to community. The story of how Porto's came to be after leaving their home in Cuba to now employing close to 1000 people is worth your time and at the core is a woman. Betty's mom who is still alive is the mastermind and head of this LA gem that has been a member of many family celebrations all across LA for decades. Stay tuned for the edited version if you missed the live broadcast I hope to post on social media later this week so check back.
Now if that was not enough to make you go "Oh hell Yes!" then this news will certainly make that happen! This gal is being filmed for in a full length feature film. One that will offer worldwide international distribution and filming is set for the end of October! I had no idea this was happening and BAM it appeared. Today I just did an interview and the producer flipped out about my story, person and my camera presence. Seems like all the years of things I got yelled at for producers and directors love. Thank God someone gets me!
I am so excited to think the conscious living movement can grow through cinema and I am involved in this process. Daily my life continues to affirm that I am involved in world wide change and that is the most amazing outcome when only 1400 days ago I was desperate and facing being institutionalized. Now I am on the radio and in a feature film!
The film company known as Alto Films have a history of award winning films. I am honored to present for FREE one of their films: Microbirth explores the seeding of baby’s microbiome that happens during childbirth. This microscopic event could impact the baby’s lifelong health and could also affect the health of generations still to come.
What’s more, Microbirth is FREE to watch on FMTV right now (as part of a 10-day free trial). FMTV is a kind of Netflix for health documentaries. Here’s the link:https://www.fmtv.com/watch/microbirth?FMTV=1968
Or, you could pay to watch for a small fee to stream/download the film on the website: http://microbirth.com
Or to buy the DVD! http://microbirth.com/store and help support small independent film makers who are working hard to create real change in the world.
Not going to lie one minute I am begging someone to pay attention to me and my miracle status and the next I am being interviewed, filmed or both. Words cannot express my sheer joy about the growth of the conscious living movement and my role. Not only is it responsible for my miracle status it truly is a world wide movement that is growing and I am right in the middle of the storm and so grateful to be able to live my higher purpose daily.
