Hot NEW Products Review from Expo West

convention-copy.jpg

By: V Capaldi Anyone who has spent any time with me has had to endure my boring stories of building tech companies that including attending more trade shows yearly than I can even imagine. My team consisted of a group dedicated to just trade shows it was such a huge part of my business.

After building tech companies I opened a retail store dedicated to consciousness and once again found myself at trade shows, but just 4 a year.

Regardless the size, going to a trade show can be a daunting experience. I often relate it to walking down a busy NYC street filled with people and knowing not a single person. Many of us are used to walking down the street and knowing everyone.

Last week I attended my 1st ever Expo West. It happened to be a record attendance at 75K!  Talk about intimidation!

IMG_0004

In typical V fashion I arrived a day before the entire event opened up to tour the smaller "Hot Products" section when it opened on Thursday; which offered a nice step back into trade show life.

Friday all hell broke loss and Expo West was in full swing. Have mercy this show has everything you can imagine complete with free food and live music!

Words nor actions can begin to express how different this experience was for me compared to any trade show I have done before. Many of us who live in the conscious world got here because life dealt us a hand we decided not to lose.  Even though the odds were not in our favor we knew our hand was a winning hand. When no one else did. When everyone thought we were crazy. When the only person we could count on was ourselves.

Imagine being in an energy space of this group of poker players?!?

I found myself crying almost every booth I visited by the uplifting forces encountered within each of the companies I had the honor of meeting. Many of them have supported my wellness journey with their brands and it was a privilege to meet the faces behind the products.

IMG_9999

To make my life even more exciting finally my dear friend Vani Hara (aka. The Food Babe) and I met face to face in Venice on Wednesday before Expo West even kicked off. Needless to say all of this is the reason this newsletter is a little delayed. I am still in recovery mode.

Here is a round-up of my TOP PICKS of PRODUCTS:

IMG_0173

Crio Bru: This stuff is delicious! WOW!  For those looking for a coffee alternative I would highly recommend you consider this brand made from Cocoa Beans.  They have different roasts and each I sipped were exceptional.

IMG_0174

Fruit Bliss: The look of the figs pulled me into the booth.  The fruit from Fruit Bliss tastes and looks fresh picked. They give each piece of fruit a nice steam before packaging producing a quality product that is the best I have ever had.  Mother Nature would be proud.

IMG_0175

Gaia: Adrenal Health: This product is for my adult daughter. She has had a tough year and wonderful year at the same time. Leaving her fatigued and her adrenals screaming for attention. I was so excited to see the addition of the Jump Start knowing this may be exactly what she needs.  I love that all Gaia products are gluten free and certified to be.

FC_GutShot_WebBanner_v2

Farmhouse Culture: The Gut Shot:  Saw this and bought it for my kid at my local Whole Foods. She has always love pickle juice and this is designer juice the way I see it. Take a shot a day and let the gut begin to heal. They taste delicious too.  I would highly recommend adding this to your daily life.  Bacteria is the new black!

There were so many products to view and learn about my mind is still numb. However of all that I personally saw these are my TOP PICKS!  I hope you found this insightful and look forward to hearing your feedback.

Would love it if you would join our community weekly newsletter offering tips & tricks to #upYOURvolume.

A Sugar, Dairy & Gluten Free Treat: Apples Ahoy!

apple-chocolate.jpg

By: V Capaldi I am doing my 1st Whole Life Challenge and loving it. 8 weeks of clean eating all in an effort to stop my addiction to honey.

Yes folks I have a honey addiction.

It used to be jars upon jars of honey. Now we have no longer maintained that level of addiction, but having honey in my diet often is not a good look for this body.

Yearly after the holiday honey feast I do a detox.  This year and probably next it is a Whole Life Challenge which means my lifestyle is clean and mean right now. However I still like to have an after dinner treat no matter how much I detox.

Here is my latest "go-to" treat that is sweet with nothing added beyond what mother nature puts in the fruit.

Simple and fun to make for the whole damn family. I like to set up a topping bar and let everyone have fun creating their favorite treats:

A 5 Star Chef Born at 52+

A 5 Star Chef Born at 52+

IMG_8869.jpg

By: V Capaldi Whoever in their right mind would have pinned me a rated 5 star ***** chef at the age of 52+?

Are you kidding me my bedtime is 8pm. The role of chef is kicking it up at notch at 8pm. Still figuring this out.

For the last month through the company Cozymeal I have had the pleasure of sharing a Paleo kitchen with almost 100 people.  These engaging, interactive classes have been a whirlwind surprise, wonderful journey &  just plan fun.

IMG_8794
IMG_8794

As "Chef V" I specialize in corporate team building events and could not be happier.  The groups of community I get to engage with in this role are uplifting, inspiring and offer everyone an all around good time. In addition my years of building small companies and studies in community psychology offer a truly rich experience.

Most groups insist on a competition element which I LOVE!  Imagine if you will Iron Chef meets Survivor.

Each Corporate Team Building Cooking Class with Chef V includes:

  • Teams
  • Competition
  • Active Engagement
  • Timed & Measured Outcomes
  • Thankfulness Reception
  • Closing Dance Party

Can I tell you folks take this seriously every time.  Which jazzes the Philly Italian girl/chef in me.

IMG_8843
IMG_8843

As in life this role of "Chef " teaches me life lessons at every event.  The inspiration/lessons I am gaining in the kitchen with others is where I am feeling the most personal growth as " Chef V". Watching varied communities use ingredients in different ways, marrying things in a way and/or preparing in a way I never thought have been a strong personally full-filling part as a teaching chef with Cozymeal.

Ever wonder how to get to a place you never dreamed?

Thought about doing something yet believing it is impossible?

If so, try my TOP 5 BAM Outcome Rules:

  1. Peek into every door
  2. Never limit yourself
  3. Open your mind
  4. Create space for the process
  5. Believe in yourself

This week I was inspired by a client from The Four Seasons Hotel who participated in a team building cooking class with me. For years I have been dipping things in chocolate & adding ingredients to stick to the chocolate.  This weeks team simply melted & mixed everything together. This process created a different taste, texture and dessert using the same ingredients I had for years and it creating a tasty new dessert.  These delicious dipped strawberries won the competition!

The only negative comment was the dish was ugly. Straight up not pretty. Not going to lie. #damnit

Food has got to be pretty is my story.

So I thought all day yesterday and at some point yesterday found myself in the kitchen with this recipe in my mind. I will be damn if it is not tasty and gorgeous.

Simply perfect for holiday entertaining and SIMPLE!

So damn easy breezy it is ridic is all I am saying.  Holiday BAM!

The end. You are welcome.

Take pics & post. Damn it.

Big Anniversary & Squash Pudding

S86A0637.jpg

By V Capaldi

How is that for a blog post title? Kinda sums up my life right now.  2 years ago this week I stood up for my beliefs and  person and made the decision to follow my heartand passion to lead a conscious life.  This gal said goodbye to the idea that healthcare is only for those who can afford it and embarked on a healthcare is self-care life.  In typical V fashion, November 2013 I jumped and decided to see if my Bag of Tricks was filled with enough tools to lead an empowered life.

Today the brand of PaleoBOSS Lady™ (PBL) shares tools of empowerment with over

50, 000 people daily & growing!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to PBL!

I could not be more excited, proud and certain of the direction the brand known as PaleoBOSS Lady™ is heading. Literally the movement is growing everyday with opportunities continuing to present themselves that continue to spread the PBL message in an accessible culturally relevant way.

The cultural norm is what the brand of PBL questions every day.

A huge message of the brand is sharing with others how to change their narrative.  One narrative we would like to change is that 25% of children are taking medication in America.

[embed]https://youtu.be/Axpvc3iDXB0[/embed]

Are you really okay with this?  Children are our hope to sustainable change.

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”   Hippocrates

The brand of PBL takes us back to the kitchen offering experiences beyond eating.  Mediums like the soon to be released South Philly Paleo Cookbook shares food, family and culture in a way that not only provides insight, recipes and games, but begins to lay the foundation for others to envision their cultural path to consciousness.

PBL had the opportunity to be filmed for a movie that will share my life story. This film is set to release April 2016 in 1100 theaters worldwide and is beyond surreal.  During the filming I lived with Dr. Wahls & her family where she ntroduced me to a dessert that is simply out of this world: Squash Pudding.  This sugar and dairy free dessert was delicious and super easy to make.

Dr. Terry Wahls Squash Pudding (adapted from memory)

IMG_8005
IMG_8005

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Put one can of coconut in refrigerator for up to 4 hours with 24 being ideal.
  • Add all ingredients, but refrigerated coconut milk to Vitamix/blender of choice until creamy and mixed.
  • Add water to desired consistency.
  • Spoon into cups and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  • 5 minutes before serving take canned coconut milk from the refrigerator placing all, but the liquid into a mixing bowl.
  • Using a hand mixer whip into a cream adding honey and pinch of cinnamon.
  • When ready to serve add whipped cream to the top with cinnamon sprinkles if you like.

Dr. Wahls used a Vitamix to make the pudding and I will be using a Cuisinart.

4 Halloween Treats Without the Sweet!

Screen-shot-2015-10-21-at-2.25.25-PM-e1445452275748.png

It's Halloween, and the stores are full of gigantic bags of candy everywhere you turn.  Even if you're not a total sugar maniac, it's hard not to start thinking about how nice a piece of chocolate would taste right about now!! I'm the first to admit that I often eat several of the sweets in our big trick-or-treat bowl as I'm handing everything out.  (Gotta make sure they taste ok, right?!) So this year will be a challenge for me as I make my way through my "One Small Step" journey of eliminating processed sugars & foods.  We get truckloads of kids in our neighborhood on Halloween.  So usually that means pounds of candy sitting in my pantry, calling my name, as I wait to hand it out.  But this year, I'm trying to be mindful of what I'm giving out.  It seems a bit wrong for me to hand out candy to others, especially if I'm changing my own narrative and moving down a path of conscious living and healthy choices.  This year, we are going to try something new and give out treats without the sweets.

I decided to run some ideas past my son & some of the neighborhood kids, to get feedback on what they would like.  Here's what we decided to go with:

Bright Halloween Play-Doh

Mini Play-Doh Containers: The littles in our neighborhood are HUGE fans of play-doh, so I know this one will go over well.  The Halloween colors are fun, and the sizes are perfect for a trick-or-treat bag.

Halloween Rubber Ducks

Glow-in-the-dark Halloween Rubber Ducks: Totally random, I know!!  But I'm a big rubber duck fan, and these crack me up!! I ran them past my 14 year old son & his friends and got a thumbs up.  Seems they have a quirky & ironic cool factor that make them acceptable to the teen & tween crew. There are a few styles out there on Amazon, we're just partial to the zombies in our house!

Jack-o-lantern stickers

Stickers are always popular!  So we went for these cool jack-o-lantern stickers because our guest panel of neighborhood kids liked them the best.  There are tons of fun Halloween options, so go with whatever makes you smile!

glow sticksGlow sticks & bracelets!!  A perennial favorite!!  I'm getting 2 packs of these because everyone wants to wear more than one.  I want kids to be able to grab a couple, since they are also a great safety feature out there in the dark.   (I'm pretty sure I'll be sporting a few of these as well! :)

Now granted, many of these things are more expensive than a 95 piece bag of candy.  And as I mentioned, we get truckloads of kids in our neighborhood.  I will be adding some bulk bags of bouncy balls or glow-in-the-dark fangs as well... 4-6 dozen for $10, as opposed to 1 dozen for the same price!!  You have to go with what feels good for you.  Amazon & the interwebs have a ton of great ideas and lots of different prices.  Halloween is about fun!!  It's about fangs!!  It's about ghosts, goblins, & glow sticks!!  Live a little!!  And let your kids see that it's totally possible to rock out the trick-or-treating without even missing the candy.  Once you get home from the madness, invite some friends over for home-made soup or stew,  paleo pumkin treats, and all sorts of excellent & healthy fall foods.

This is a new adventure for me, and I would love to know your tips for a Paleo Perfect, refined sugar free Halloween!  So please share!!

Party all the Time

S86A0570.jpg

By: V Capaldi Anyone who knows me well can vouch for the fact that I have been known to "hit the streets" and dance on bars a time or two in this life.  In addition this gal is a slamming cook and party planner.  My mom taught me long ago the art of throwing a good party and my grandmother the way to own your kitchen.  This pairing is the foundation of many if not all of the recipes offered by me in all of my cookbooks.

BadassBrunchCoverJPEG

Today, Team PBL, is pleased to announce the re-release of the PBL line of original recipe party planners!  Updated new recipes and photo's fill the pages of these inclusive Paleo Perfect events:

Paleo Perfect Holidays

Badass Brunch

Titillating Tapas

When I began my conscious living journey regarding food Paleo at 1st seemed overwhelming and way too labor intensive for this 'no hands' girl. At the time I had little to no use of my hands bilaterally due to the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis on my body.  Little did I know that the time spent in the kitchen is no more than when I was eating processed unhealthy foods. The difference is in the planning.  Sad, but true the planning is needed because eating healthy, organic and chemical free food is not the norm in most places so planning is needed for this to be a reality for most.

How backwards is our thinking that this is the reality?

With the holiday and entertaining season fast approaching the Paleo Perfect Party Series is the answer to your prayers.  Not only do they offer original delicious easy to prepare recipes they include helpful tips to ensure your party goes off without a hitch except sore feet from dancing and cheek bones from laughing.

PBL_PaleoPerfectHolidayCover-2

Badass Brunch and Titillating Tapas offer everything you need to throw a care free conscious party.  These party planners offer meal planning, shopping lists, music and a libation station to assure you have everything perfect while enjoying every second. Paleo Perfect Holidays pages are filled with my mom mom & grandmother's recipes made Paleo perfect.

Click here to get the latest copy of each book in the series and check off holiday entertaining planning as being done!  These no worry planners have got you covered.  BAM

Don't be Hating the Miracle of Me!

boss.jpg

By: PaleoBOSS Lady® Being your own miracle is hard ass work!  Let me tell you that I have been surprised at every turn and need to go to school for this shit!

1st I am all bent out of shape mourning the loss of the chaos knows as MS and now I was 'publicly stoned' via social media in a private MS group I went to for support!

Literally! #WTF

Many…um please let me correct myself …MOST….drum roll

that live with disease of any kind are not happy when they hear that I have healed using food & movement as medicine! #ohHELLno

Can you fucking imagine that?  You tell people the power to heal is in their hands, costs virtually nothing, will save you money and it is accessible to everyone and they get mad!

#ohitgetswild I tell you!

FA_03_23_Vodoo_Doll_DV_20100323094129

Why?

They hear, "You gave yourself ________ and continue with every bite so its your fault asshole!"

Which BTFucking way is exactly what big pharm, big business and even Uncle Subsidized Sam want you to hear! #itsworking

Rather what I am saying is, "Wow did you ever consider the cultural norms in your life and how this translates in your life?  #fuckingbrilliant

Ownership PEOPLE!

Life is about ownership and my healing is 100% based on accountability for MY LIFE!  Yup people I own 100% of my life and this shit is hard!

The minute I stop owning my shit my body be like "Yo biatch we ain't working if you be tweking!"  #partofmycharm

How about we all sit down and have a conversation or 2 with ourselves and ask some simple questions????

Who said breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Why do we eat pancakes at breakfast and not dinner?

Why do we go to learn in a classroom?  Why are we separated by grades?

Why do we eat food ridden with chemicals?

How did we get Gluten?

Who said healthcare is about symptom management only with little to no regard for the reason?

I am learning every step of the way and the community of conscious living is growing.  #YIPPEE

No matter how many people I piss off this #BOSS Lady will not stop until she no longer sees posts like this titled: BREAKFAST

photo

and replaces them with this: ENERGY, FUEL, SELF-RESPECT:

If you like, hate or reacted in any way to what I just said I hope you will subscribe to my blog.  I also would be jazzed to shit if you would share this!  My life is my work and I could use a cheerleading squad!  Community matters to me and is the blood of my heart and soul!  My hope is to inspire, engage and empower you with every curse word!  Love the life you live and live the life you love! Why the fuck not???
